Scope

The objective of The 6th ISRR Symposium was to understand the morphology and function of whole root systems as a dynamic interface between plants and the earth. Root research needs to proceed in order to achieve sustainable plant production as well as addressing environmental issues occurring in the root environment. The goal of the symposium was to establish the science of rhizology (NEGAKU) as a new important and integrated research area.

Excursion and tour

Scientific Excursion (November 15)
National Institute of Vegetable and Tea Science and "Gyokuro no Sato", Village of Superior Tea, in Shizuoka
The participants learned the agriculture in Shizuoka Prefecture that well integrated adopting to the geographical features of this area - namely the combination of rice, tea and orange cultivation. The participants also practiced the Japanese traditional tea culture in the Gyokuro no Sato.
This program was conducted with special cooperation by National Institute of Vegetable and Tea Science.

Optional tour (November 16) - Kyoto 1 day Tour
Nijo Castle, Golden Pavilion, Nishiki Ichiba Market
The participants visited the world famous historical city, Kyoto, in its most beautiful season.
